Schedule of Events for Monday, 23 August

KAMNIK - The executive council of the senior coalition Liberal Democracy (LDS) is to hold a session at 4:00 PM aimed at discussing current political developments and setting a date for the congress at which the party will confirm its manifesto. (STA)

LJUBLJANA - Interior Minister Rado Bohinc is expected to hold a meeting at noon with Josko Joras, the Slovenian citizen living in a settlement in a disputed part of the land border between Croatia and Slovenia who blocked off the Secovlje border crossing in protest after a run-in with Croatian customs officials.

LJUBLJANA - Slovenia and Russia are scheduled to hold regular political consultations. The Russian side will be headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Yuri Fedotov. Fedotov is also scheduled to hold a meeting with Slovenian Foreign Minister Ivo Vajgl at 12:15 PM.

BOVEC - Contracts are to be signed for the construction of the first houses to be built for people whose homes were destroyed by July's earthquake in northwestern Slovenia.

NOVA GORICA/MEDANA - A popular festival of poetry and wine - the 8th "Days of Poetry and Wine" - is to get underway.
