Schedule of Events from 7 to 13 November

Ljubljana, 6 November - Schedule of events in the week from 7 to 13 November:

MONDAY, 7 November
        BRUSSELS, Belgium - EU foreign ministers are to restart the negotiations on the EU budget framework for 2007-2013 as well as discuss bird flu, WTO negotiations and foreign policy. Slovenia is to be represented by State Secretary for European Affairs Marcel Koprol (budget talks) and FM Dimitrij Rupel (foreign affairs).
        LJUBLJANA - Bank of Slovenia Governor Mitja Gaspari and the director of the Bank of Slovenia's analytical and research department Damjan Kozamernik are to present a report on fiscal policy at a press conference.
        SLOVENJ GRADEC - Environment Minister Janez Podobnik and his team are to visit the Koroska region and meet with representatives of several municipalities.
        KOPER - A meeting of business people from the Slovenian part of Istria is to discuss social partnership in dealing with economic and social development. The event is to be attended by Labour, Family and Social Affairs Minister Janez Drobnic.
        RADENCI - The 15th international conference of statisticians is to be launched. Organised by Slovenia's Statistical Office and Slovenian Statistical Association, the event is to last until 9 November.
        RIBNICA - A panel on the EU's Common Agricultural Policy and its influence on Slovenia is to be prepared by the Europe Direct information point, working within the regional Novo mesto centre for small and medium enterprises.
        KOPER - The Koper Regional Development Centre is to hold a panel on the Bologna Declaration.
        LJUBLJANA - US actress Andie MacDowell and Brazilian writer Paulo Coelho are to attend a social event in Ljubljana, hosted by the Diners Club.
        LJUBLJANA - Beginning of the eighth international arts festival "Break 2.3.", which will last until 21 November. The event is to kick off in an old abattoir.

TUESDAY, 8 November
        BRUSSELS, Belgium - EU finance ministers, including Slovenia's Andrej Bajkuk, are to discuss Hungary's budgetary issues, ways to cut red tape and ways to improve EU budget oversight. EU Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs Joaquin Almunia is to sign a partnership agreement on a national information campaign prior to the euro changeover with Slovenia, Lithuania and Estonia.
        LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary committee for foreign affairs is to meet behind closed doors.
        LJUBLJANA - The maiden session of the national Pension and Disability Insurance Institute (ZPIZ).
        PORTOROZ - Countries signatories of the Convention for the Protection of the Marine Environment and the Coastal Region of the Mediterranean (the Barcelona Convention) are to meet at a conference that will last until until 11 November.
        LJUBLJANA - Press conference by Slovenia's largest poultry producer Perutnina Ptuj is to present the measures the company has taken while bird flu edged closer to Slovenia.

WEDNESDAY, 9 November
        RAVNE NA KOROSKEM/SLOVENJ GRADEC - Government is to visit the Korosko region, as part of its ongoing tour of Slovenian statistical regions.
        LUDMANNSDORF, Austria - Slovenian President Janez Drnovsek is to meet his Austrian counterpart Heinz Fischer.
        LJUBLJANA - One of the in-house trade unions at Slovenian Railways is to stage a token strike.
        LJUBLJANA - Press conference to present the first Congress of Slovenian Architects, which is to begin on 11 November.
        LJUBLJANA - A film evening, to take place at cinema Dvor, is to pay tribute to film director Joze Pogacnik, the winner of this year's Badjura Lifetime Achievement Award. The event is organised by the Association of Slovenian Filmmakers.

THURSDAY, 10 November
        LJUBLJANA - Slovenian President Janez Drnovsek and his Croatian counterpart Stipe Mesic are to hold an unofficial meeting at both sides of the Slovenian-Croatian border.
        LJUBLJANA - The government is to hold its weekly session.
        LJUBLJANA - The Science and Research Centre of Koper and the committee for studying ethnic minorities at the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts are to organise a two-day event marking the 30 years of the Osimo Agreements between Italy and Yugoslavia. The working meeting is expected to be attended by FM Dimitrij Rupel.
        LJUBLJANA - The Ljubljana Stock Exchange is to organise the eighth autumn conference of finance experts.
        LJUBLJANA - A screening of "Gravehopping", a film by Jan Cvitkovic, is to open the 16th Ljubljana International Film Festival (Liffe).
        LJUBLJANA - Brazilian writer Paolo Coelho is to sign his books at Ljubljana's largest book shop, Konzorcij.
        MUGGIA, Italy - The opening of a group exhibition bringing together Slovenian minority artists from Italy and their Italian minority counterparts from Slovenia.

FRIDAY, 11 November
        LJUBLJANA - A presentation of the documents by the Council of Europe on local government and a discussion on related issues to mark 20 years of the European Charter of Local Self-Government and 25 years of the European Convention on cross-border cooperation. The event is to be staged by the CoE and the Government Office for Local Government.

SATURDAY, 12 November
        No major events are planned.

SUNDAY, 13 November
        LJUBLJANA - A centenary of the St. Stanislav's Institution, an educational establishment founded by the then Bishop of Ljubljana Anton Bonaventura Jeglic, is to be celebrated. PM Janez Jansa is to deliver the keynote address.
