Ljubljana, 8 November - Below is a schedule of events for Wednesday, 9 November:
LUDMANNSDORF, Austria - Slovenian President Janez Drnovsek will meet his Austrian counterpart Heinz Fischer to discuss bilateral relations as well as several EU topics and the situation in the Western Balkans, chiefly Kosovo. A statement to the press is scheduled for 6:30 PM. (STA)
RAVNE NA KOROSKEM/SLOVENJ GRADEC - The government will visit Korosko to meet local politicians and business people as part of its ongoing tour of Slovenian statistical regions. A news conference by PM Janez Jansa, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Jure Zupan, and Minister of Local Government Ivan Zagar is scheduled for 4:45 PM. (STA)
LJUBLJANA - The Railway Transport Trade Union, one of the nine in-house trade unions at Slovenian Railways, will stage a strike from 8 AM until noon. With a few exceptions, such as international and some cargo trains, railway transport is expected to come to a standstill. (STA)
LJUBLJANA - STA is to release a feature about 30 years since Italy and Yugoslavia signed the Treaty of Osimo, in which they settled the border between the two countries and encouraged open bilateral relations. (STA)
PORTOROZ - The Mediterranean Strategy for Sustainable Development is to be discussed at the ministerial session of the 14th meeting of the Barcelona Convention signatories. At 1 PM, Slovenia, Italy and Croatia will sign an accord on concerted action in cases of accident-caused pollution. The four-day event ends on Friday. (STA)
PORTOROZ - A conference on economic cooperation in the Adriatic between Slovenia, Croatia and Italy, organised by the dailies Primorske novice and Finance, is to begin at 2 PM.
LJUBLJANA - All four associations of trade unions which have announced a mass worker's protest for 26 November are to once again outline the reasons for their opposition to the government structural reforms; at 9 AM.
LJUBLJANA - A two-day international conference is to discuss the distribution of electricity and changes on the Slovenian power distribution market. The event, which starts at 10 AM, is organised by the Elektro Maribor distribution company.
LJUBLJANA - The parliamentary economic affairs and EU affairs committees are to hold a joint session at 2 PM to discuss the three-year national programme of reforms aimed at implementing Lisbon Strategy goals. The document was adopted by the government in October.
LJUBLJANA - The supervisory board of the country's largest insurer Zavarovalnica Triglav is to discuss a plan to annex the asset management company Triglav financna druzba, and set a date of a special general meeting to decided on the annexation.
LJUBLJANA - New collective bargaining agreements for the electronic industry and for the metal industry are to be signed at 11 AM.
LJUBLJANA - Several short films made by Joze Pogacnik from 1964 to 1984 are to be screened at Kinodvor cinema in the evening to pay homage to the winner of this year's Badjura Lifetime Achievement Award, given out by the Association of Slovenian Filmmakers.
LJUBLJANA - The 1st Congress of Slovenian Architects, which begins on 11 November, is to be presented to the press at 1 PM.
MARIBOR - The international COBISS 2005 conference is to discuss the current level of automation in libraries and their competitiveness in the information age. The two-day event is organised by the Maribor-based Institute of Information Sciences.
