BRDO PRI KRANJU - OSCE chairman Dimitrij Rupel, the Slovenian foreign minister, is expected to talk to the members of a commission in charge of promoting Georgian-Ossetian peace efforts, the Joint Control Commission, which brings together officials from Russia and Georgia as well as South and North Ossetia; at 10 AM. KLAGENFURT, Austria - A delegation of the parliamentary commission for Slovenians abroad is to visit Austria's province of Carinthia. The MPs are expected to hold talks with representatives of the Slovenian minority and the provincial government. Press statements are scheduled for 3 PM. (STA)

BRUSSELS, Belgium - An annual autumn meeting of EU chiefs-of-staff is to continue. Captain Renato Petric is representing Chief-of-Staff of the Slovenian Armed Forces, Major General Ladislav Lipic.

BRUSSELS, Belgium - The final day of a meeting of the EU Council on education, youth and culture. Minister of Education and Sport Milan Zver and Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Jure Zupan are to attend the meeting.

LJUBLJANA - Dolenjske Toplice mayor Franc Vovk, the unexpected contender for the presidential post at New Slovenia (NSi), is to present his candidacy at 10 AM.

LJUBLJANA - The management board of the Chamber of Commerce (GZS) is to examine the government-sponsored economic and social reforms and an internal reform of the GZS. The session starts at 2 PM.

LJUBLJANA - Foreign Minister Dimitrij Rupel is to sign a memorandum with French Ambassador Dominique Gazuy and Belgian Ambassador Jean-Louis Mignot to implement the government's decision to promote the learning of French among civil servants; at noon.

ZURICH, Switzerland - Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology Jure Zupan is to attend a science forum entitled European Research Area and Beyond, an event organised by the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich.

GOTHENBURG, Sweden - The final day of a two-day ministerial entitled "Toward a Knowledge-Based Society - a Scandinavian Experience". Slovenia is represented by Local Government and Regional Policy Minister Ivan Zagar.

PREBOLD - SAPS, the Slovenian subsidiary of German auto-equipment maker Schefenacker, is to open a new factory at noon. (STA)

MARIBOR - A conference entitled "Globalisation Processes and a New Role for the State" is to be held at the Maribor Faculty of Business and Economics. Starts at 10 AM.

LJUBLJANA - The Institute of Ethnic Studies is to hold a press conference at 11 AM to present activities marking the institution's 80th anniversary.

SEVNICA - A conference om water management is to start at 9 AM. The event is organised by the Water Management Association and the National Committee on Large Dams.
