Ljubljana, 16 November - Below is a schedule of events for Thursday, 17 November:
LJUBLJANA - The cabinet is expected to discuss the creation of a Government Office for the Coordination of Economic and Social Reforms at its weekly session. Also on the agenda: changes to the securities market act and changes to the environmental protection act. A press conference is scheduled for after the session, at 2 PM. (STA)
LJUBLJANA - Macedonian PM Vlado Buckovski is to meet his Slovenian counterpart Janez Jansa, Parliamentary Speaker France Cukjati and President Janez Drnovsek as part of his official visit to Slovenia. The PMs are to hold a press conference at 4:20 PM. (STA)
PORTOROZ - "Global economy and cultural diversity" will be in the focus of a two-day business conference which will be opened by President Janez Drnovsek at 9:30 AM, to be followed by an address by European Trade Commissioner Peter Mandelson. (STA)
KRANJSKA GORA - Days of European Law are to begin. The three-day event, organised by the firm GV Izobrazevanje, the Institute of European Studies and the Academy of European Law, is to discuss the changes brought about by Slovenia's EU membership. Begins at 1 PM. (STA)
ILIRISKA BISTRICA - The parliamentary environment and spatial planning committee is to convene at 10:30 AM discuss plans for the construction of wind turbines at Volovja reber near Ilirska Bistrica.
LJUBLJANA - The coalition SLS is to hold a press conference at 9 AM to present a resolution on the border between Slovenia and Croatia in Istria.
LJUBLJANA - The coalition New Slovenia (NSi) is to hold a press conference at 2:30 PM ahead of Saturday's party congress.
STRASBOURG, France - The Council of Europe's two-day Forum 2005, focusing on reconciling labour flexibility with social cohesion is to begin, to be attended also by Slovenian Labour, Family and Social Affairs Minister Janez Drobnic.
LJUBLJANA - A ceremony at 6 PM is to mark the 80th anniversary of the Institute for Ethnic Studies, with Science Minister Jure Zupan, the former assistant UN secretary general for political affairs Danilo Tuerk and John de Fonblanque of the OSCE to address the audience.
FERLACH, Austria - A ceremony at 7:30 PM is to mark the 30th anniversary of the only Slovenian minority party in Austria's Carinthia, the Unity List (EL).
BLED - The Environment Ministry is to stage a three-day international seminar dubbed "Managing Cities in a Europe of Networks" in cooperation with the CoE and the European Urbanism Council.
ANKARAN - The Association of Journalists is to organise a three-day annual conference "Journalism Days 2005"; gets underway at 10 AM.
LIPICA - An exhibition of prints by Avgust Cernigoj (1898-1985) is to open at 6 PM to mark 20 years of the death of this pioneer of Slovenian graphic arts.
