Presidential Office

The president of Slovenia has the same base salary as the prime minister, parliamentary speaker and the presidents of the Supreme Court and Constitutional Court, 5,419 euro gross, and has 40 days of annual leave.

The president's office is a separate line item in the national budget and the amount of funding is proposed by the president. Expenditure is monitored by the Court of Audit.

The office has a budget of 2.3 million euro this year, the same as in the year before, but significantly less than the 3.5 million in 2010, before austerity measures were put into place.

The president works from the Presidential Palace, but does not have a residence. He has 24-hour police protection wherever he goes.

The office has 38 employees, 11 of whom have been directly hired by the president and will leave the Presidential Palace with him. There are also two advisors who are not full-time employees.

After the end of the presidential term, the former president has the right to participate in national ceremonies. For the first year, they are also entitled to an office space, an advisor, an assistant, a car with chauffeur and police protection.

Unless they get a new job or retire, former presidents receive 80% of the presidential pay for one year, with a possible one-year extension.
