Photo exhibition traces urban changes in Istanbul

A series of photos Slovenian photographer Manca Juvan took in Istanbul to draw attention to changes in urban areas will be put on show on Friday evening at the Moderna Galerija, the country's museum of modern art. Dubbed Istanbul: Faces of Freedom, the exhibition will be on show until 26 May.

Display on Slovenian anti-fascist resistance opens in Gorizia

An exhibition on Slovenian anti-fascist efforts in Primorska and Istria, two regions that became part of Italy after the First World War, will open at the Slovenian minority's cultural centre in the Italian city of Gorizia on Friday after it was put on show at the European Parliament in Brussels in January.

Discontent boils over among book publishers

A total of 14 leading Slovenian book publishers have issued a joint call for action to enable the long-term survival of non-commercial publishing in the country. They say the sector has been struggling from the very outset and that the hope things would improve after Slovenia's successful stints at the Frankfurt and Bologna fairs had been in vain.

Ljubljana gallery taking part at Art Brussels

The Ljubljana gallery Ravnikar Gallery Space is taking part at Art Brussels, one of the key contemporary art fairs in Europe, running until Sunday. The gallery is presenting the work of Meta Drčar, a Paris-based Slovenian artist, and Dutch visual artist Bart Lunenburg.

Večer says no reasons in Slovenia to celebrate book day

The newspaper Večer says in Tuesday's commentary that there are not many reasons in Slovenia to celebrate World Book and Copyright Day, as quality fiction and humanities books, those that depend on state subsidies, are not in a very good shape.
