Govt adopts healthcare digitalisation bill

The government adopted on Thursday a bill on the digitalisation of healthcare, the first in a planned health reform package. Health Minister Danijel Bešič Loredan said it introduces digital transparency and is a prerequisite for the reform.

Minister urges psychiatric hospital director to resign

The government has dismissed its five representatives on the nine-strong council of the Ljubljana Psychiatric Clinic and appointed new members. Health Minister Danijel Bešič Loredan also urged the director general to resign, which Bojan Zalar is willing to do only if external reviews show that he has made "professional errors".

Cancellation of Boxer deal to cost the state over EUR 4m

The contractual fine that Slovenia has to pay for pulling out of the EUR 281 million agreement on the purchase of 45 Boxer armoured personnel carriers from the OCCAR programme amounts to EUR 4.15 million, Defence Minister Marjan Šarec said on Thursday. But he stressed the country would save EUR 65 million.

New loan schemes available for green and digital transition of SMEs

The state-run SID Bank signed a EUR 42 million loan guarantee agreement with the European Investment Fund (EIF) on Thursday under which it will offer micro, small and medium-sized businesses EUR 72 million in favourable loans for their green and digital transformation.

Legendary 19th century Ljubljana pastry revived

The oldest recipe for a pastry known as the Ljubljana Štrukelj, which first appeared in the first original Slovenian cook book from 1868, has been revived and modernised. The cake is made of dough, orange filling, vanilla, jam and almonds, and is a variant of an Austro-Hungarian cake.
