Local Elections: Run-off Produces a Few Surprises

Ljubljana/Maribor, 12 November - The second round of voting in the 2006 general elections on Sunday produced quite a few surprises. Most notably, the ruling Slovenian Democrats (SDS) had to concede in Maribor, where their favourite, Gregor Pivec, looks set to lose against Franc Kangler of the coalition People's Party (SLS), according to preliminary unofficial results.
