Bajuk and Almunia Averse to Tax Response to Price Hikes

Luxembourg, 3 June - Slovenian Finance Minister Andrej Bajuk and European Commissioner for Economic and Monetary Affairs Joaquin Almunia are disinclined to use tax policies in response to high prices. Arriving for a ministerial in Luxembourg on Tuesday, the pair said this would go against what EU finance ministers agreed on in Manchester in 2005.
