EU Leaders Endorse Slovakia's Adoption of the Euro

Brussels, 19 June - EU heads of state and government confirmed Slovakia's readiness to join the eurozone on 1 January 2009 as they gathered for a summit in Brussels on Thursday. "I congratulate Slovakia for meeting all the relevant criteria," said the President of the European Council, Slovenian Prime Minister Janez Jansa.
