Slovenia's GDP in first quarter up 0.7% year-on-year

Slovenia's gross domestic product (GDP) increased by 0.7% in the first quarter of 2023 compared to the same period last year. After a year and a half, external demand exceeded domestic expenditure. Exports were up and imports were down, the Statistics Office said on Tuesday.

Red alert for downpours, floods issued for north-east

The Environment Agency (ARSO) has issued a red alert, the highest warning level, for parts of north-eastern Slovenia as severe downpours in the coming hours could make rivers flood. Several rivers in the north-east and south-east have already swollen and could start flooding. A strong bora wind is meanwhile sweeping through Primorska in the west.

Bled hosting PEN International Writers' Meeting

The 55th PEN International Writers' Meeting will get under way in lakeside resort Bled on Tuesday. A poetry reading in 13 languages will kick off the events that will include annual roundtable debates on peace-promoting social orders and literature's relationship with truth.

President Pirc Musar to attend CoE summit in Iceland
