Karavanke Geo Park Protected by UNESCO

Mežica, 22 March - The Karavanke - Karawanken geopark became a part of the Global Geoparks Network (GGN), a UNESCO programme established in 1998, on Thursday. This was the goal of the Geopark project of Slovenia and Austria as part of their operative programme for 2007-2013, the Slovenian Institute for Nature Conservation said on Friday.
