Freedom Movement condemns depiction of its MPs in Nazi uniforms

As parliament banned Nazi and fascist symbols upon the coalition's proposal on Thursday, the ruling Freedom Movement called a news conference to condemn the depiction of three of its MPs in Nazi uniforms on today's cover of the right-wing weekly Demokracija. The party pointed the finger at the opposition Democratic Party (SDS).

Slovenia ordered to pay damages in child custody case

The European Court of Human Rights (ECHR) has ruled that prohibiting contact between three children and their mother in a Slovenian custody and contact rights case in 2018 was unjustified. Slovenia must pay a total of EUR 36,500 in damages to the mother and children.

National Assembly passes ban on Nazi, Fascist symbols

The National Assembly passes in a 46:8 vote on Thursday changes to the Protection of Public Order Act which introduce a ban on Nazi and Fascist symbols. The opposition failed to push through a proposal to expand the list with Communism.

Commissioner Kos on first official visit to Slovenia on Monday

European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos will be on her first official visit to Slovenia on Monday, Prime Minister Robert Golob said in a doorstep statement ahead of an EU summit in Brussels on Thursday. After an EU-Western Balkans summit on Wednesday marked by candidate countries' disappointment, Golob argued for EU pragmatism.
