The only countries to beat Slovenia, whose population count per medal was 663,000, were Norway (212,000) and Austria (513,000).

Before winning three medals in Vancouver, Slovenian athletes bagged five in Beijing, which meant one medal per 401,000 inhabitants. Only the Bahamas (153,000) and Jamaica (198,000) did better.
