OLYMPICS: Majdič Sprinted to Bronze in 2010 with Broken Ribs
Ljubljana, 3 February - Slovenia's retired cross-country skier Petra Majdič made Olympic history in Vancouver four years ago when she won an improbable bronze medal in the women's sprint after fracturing five ribs during the warm-up run.
The 33-year-old Majdič, who is the official head of the Slovenian Olympic team in Sochi, described the bronze medal as covered with diamonds in her mind.
The best Slovenian cross-country skier in history returned to Slovenia with the prestigious Terry Fox Award conferred by a Canadian foundation for exceptional courage and inspiring performances in sports.
