Tax authority employees go on strike

Employees at the Financial Administration (FURS) went on strike on Monday because the government has not made them any concrete offers since they suspended industrial action in February. Their demands, including a pay rise for all FURS staff, remain unchanged.

Author Veno Taufer dies aged 90

Author, translator and editor Veno Taufer has died at age 90, the Slovenian Writers' Association told the STA on Monday. An acclaimed Slovenian poet, Taufer used to be the head of PEN Slovenia and chair of PEN International's Writers for Peace committee. One of Slovenia's leading literary festivals, Vilenica, was his brainchild.
