December with highest monthly death rate in past two decades
Ljubljana, 10 February - The total of deaths in Slovenia in December 2020 was up by some 72% year-on-year to 3,221 in what is the highest monthly mortality rate in the past 20 years, show the preliminary data of the Statistics Office. In 2020, 23,891 persons died in Slovenia, up by 16% on 2019. Excess mortality stood at 18% last year.
