Forum Slovenicum opens in Klagenfurt
Klagenfurt, 24 February - The Slovenian community in the Austrian state of Carinthia got a new centre for educational activities and socialising in the centre of Klagenfurt. Forum Slovenicum, operated by publisher Mohorjeva Družba that will open today, will host students and will also be the seat of the working community of private bilingual and multilingual kindergartens.
The Slovenian parish in Klagenfurt will also have rooms in the building that was renovated for about EUR 160,000.
Apart from Mohorjeva Družba, the office of the Austrian chancellor and Slovenia provided the money for the renovation.
Mohorjeva Družba, which next to a publishing house, bookshop and printing shop also runs a kindergarten, school, a day care centre and a dorm for high-school students, purchased a provincial housing complex in the centre of Klagenfurt from Slovenian school nuns last August.
In the past months, the 1,300-square-metre complex was fully renovated.
Forum Slovenicum will encompass a student dorm accommodating 18 students and also rooms for seminars open to anyone.
