In the event that the government decides to impose a new tax, the donation would go into meeting that obligation, the bank said.

The bank said in a press statement on Friday that the donation had been approved by the board the previous day on the proposal of the management.

NLB already donated EUR 4 million to the affected municipalities soon after the floods, while its Macedonian branch donated EUR 60,000 to the Red Cross and other charities.

The bank added it had adopted loan repayment moratoriums without extra cost for businesses, more affordable credit lines totalling EUR 100 million for companies, and affordable loans to households, among other things.
