EU environment commissioner fears voluntary Natura 2000 measures will not cut it

Brussels, 5 October - European Environment Commissioner Virginijus Sinkevičius expressed doubt ahead of a visit to Slovenia about the workability of the government's relegation of binding Natura 2000 protective measures to voluntary in some areas following protests by farmers earlier this year. He, however, indicated the Commission would only sit on the fence for now.
