Minister pledges security in Roma crime areas, bipartisan effort launched in parliament
Kočevje/Ribnica/Ljubljana, 22 August - Interior Minister Boštjan Poklukar promised beefed up police presence to mayors in SE Slovenia on Thursday to improve security amid endemic crime involving members of the Roma community. The opposition Democrats (SDS) meanwhile tabled a request for an emergency session of parliament, which enjoys the ruling party's support.
