Firefighters in southern Slovenia continue to battle a wildfire near Kočevje stretching across some 25 hectares of mostly inaccessible terrain. The flames were contained Saturday afternoon and the situation improved slightly overnight, with the firefighters now eagerly anticipating heavy rainfall forecast for the afternoon.

Long tailbacks and congestions are reported from several parts of the country and will likely grow even longer later on. The situation is the worst at the two main border crossing with Austria: the tailback before the Karavanke tunnel was 12 kilometres long by noon, and in Šentil the tailback was some 8 kilometres long.
