Advisory: Correction of EU and Independence Referendum Comparison

Ljubljana, 30 March - Reporting about the outcome of the 23 March referendum on EU membership, STA was mistaken in saying that the backing of 89.6 percent of the voters for the EU surpassed even that of Slovenia's independence vote in 1990 (88.5 percent). This was not true, because the 88.5-percent backing for independence was that of all eligible voters, while the 89.6-percent EU support came with the turnout at just over 60 percent. Please disregard the mistake in all articles on the EU membership referendum published by STA in the wake of the referendum.
