Race Turns to Making Distinctions

Ljubljana, 6 November - The two contenders who are to face off in Sunday's decisive vote for president moved somewhat from the centre-ground position and polite exchange in Monday's debate broadcast by public RTV Slovenija. While Lojze Peterle insisted that the president should be someone who had played a decisive role in the independence efforts, which his opponent was not, Danilo Tuerk took up a bit more pronounced left-leaning stance on some of the issues discussed.
