Most Party Leaders Pleased with Outcome of Presidential Race

Ljubljana, 11 November - Heads of parliamentary parties are overwhelmingly pleased with the outcome of the presidential ballot, with the exception of the Youth Party (SMS). Both the Liberal Democrats (LDS), who support Janez Drnovsek, and the Social Democrats (SDS) and New Slovenia (NSi), who back Barbara Brezigar, are also convinced that their candidates would win the run-off. Drnovsek won 44.3 percent of the popular vote, while Brezigar finished second with 30.8 percent.
