LDS and ZLSD Support Rop for New Prime Minister, SDS Against Him

Ljubljana, 6 December - Meeting for separate consultations with President Milan Kucan on Friday, deputy groups of the ruling coalition parties, Liberal Democrats (LDS) and United List (ZLSD), supported the proposal of the senior partner LDS that Finance Minister Anton Rop is to be appointed new prime minister designate. Opposition Social Democrats (SDS) meanwhile opposed the proposal, arguing that Rop is responsible for a poor state of Slovenia's finances.
